Ancient India

Ancient India was just as unique and diverse as it is now. Ancient India had 16 states. They were called Gandhara, Vatsa, Avanti, Surasena, Chedi, Maila, Kurus, Matsya, Vajjis, Kashi, ANga, Kosala, Kamboja, Asmaka, Magadha, and Panchala. Ancient India also had 4 sacred texts, together they were called the Vedas. The 4 Vedas were the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda. There were many important things that happened in Ancient India. Some of those are, the origin of Indian music (Sam Veda) was created, the Battle of Ten Kings, Brahmins were declared superior to others, the Four Fold division of society was created, the 16 Mahajanapadas were created, Buddhism and Jainism were created, The Indica and Arthashastra were created, the Tamil Sangam was created, and Islam firmly established itself in India. The Battle of the Ten Kings was a battle between 2 Vedic Aryan Kings. Buddhism was created by an Indian king who saw the suffering of the world and decided to find a way to cure it. The Four Fold Division of Society was a system that divided people into one of 4 classes depending on the family they were born into. The four classes were Brahmins (priests), Kshatriyas (warriors), Vaishyas (merchants), and Sudras (servants). There was also one more classification called Untouchables. Untouchables violated their caste laws and were only supposed to do jobs like cleaning the sewage. The Tamil Sangam was a period in South India which focused on lots of academics and poetry. It has influenced India a lot because a lot of important writings and theories were made. Ancient India is one of the most remarkable civilizations that has ever been seen in the world.
